People all around the world love joining together and sharing good time through festivals and community celebrations. Festivals are great way to experience and to allow us an opportunity to socialize, unite and come together. Unity is strength.
Subic’s iconic town week-long festival “Subic Ay!” took off last April 30 and was filled with activities and heavy entertainment aimed to showcase the culture and boost tourism of Subic and as a thanksgiving gesture for bountiful harvest.
As Subic Mayor Jefferson “Jay” Khonghun described it, this year’s Subic Ay Festival is a mix of the old and new. A blending of the modern and the traditional, because that’s what we are as a people, as a community that is evolving and adapting.
“Subic trying to bring in all possible aspects of community life to the celebration, so that all the residents, whether young or old, could relate to the occasion and, thus, would participate in the activities,” Mayor Khonghun expressed.
Mayor Khonghun lead the kick-off and he indulged with the product exhibition of Barangays.
Since a community fiesta is for the people, the local government took this opportunity to serve Subikenyos with medical, dental missions and feeding program.A job fair and multi-services caravan were also launched.
The value of the senior citizens and other distinguished individuals in town was also recognized.
Among the highlights of the festivity include the commemoration of Araw ng Mangingisda at Magsasaka, Cultural show, float parade, and street dance.
The week-long festival ended with multi-municipality grand dance competition, heavy entertainment of rave party and variety shows.
