France is well known as a country for romance and passion, but it also famous for having some delicious cuisine. Restaurant de l’Abbaye, Hautvillers
Located near the famous site where Dom Perignon first perfected his champagne technique, the lovely Restaurante de l’Abbaye serves up some delicious dishes. The restaurants signature dish is scallops in cream sauce with asparagus and delicate mushrooms which are served with glasses of champagne. Petit Flours and coffee are served after your meals and the prices are very reasonable. Throw in some friendly service from the staff and the restaurant is a great spot to enjoy your dinner.
Le Cantorbery, Dinan, Brittany
Found in a beautiful 17th century townhouse, Le Cantorbery is right at home in the small medieval town of Dinan. Succulent meat is cooked over an open fire place and the smells that come off the cooking add to atmosphere of this quaint restaurant. As it is a popular eating spot, you may find that it is fully booked but you can wait for a table while enjoying some of the local wines in the lovely waiting area.
Le Manoir de Moellien, Finistere, Brittany
Not the most popular tourist destination, Finistere has some brilliant hidden gems. Spending a day on some of the clean and empty beaches can build up an appetite, so heading over to Le Manoir de Moellien where you can enjoy some delicious local cuisine and wines in a baronial dining room is the perfect remedy.
Le Coq Rouge, Saint Genis Pouilly, Burgundy
This restaurant is great value for money even if it is slightly old fashioned. It is cheaper than most of the restaurants you will find across the border in Switzerland and you will always find friendly staff ready to take your orders from their set menus. Le Pain sur la table, Cluny
At one end of this historic town you will find a river snaking through its streets and just by the bridge is Le Pain sur la table. All the ingredients cooked here are organic and the menu is extremely original. A three course lunch with a glass of wine is great value for money at €16. There is also an in house bakery you can visit for breakfast and serves up some of the best croissants you will find anywhere in France.
Le ferme de Panivol, Bussiere Badil, Dordogne
Located in a natural park, Panivol is a great spot to enjoy the views and a delicious meal while being surrounded by goats and farm animals. Daily specials include dishes such as sorrel, wild garlic omelette or duck stew with local chestnuts. All the ingredients are locally produced making them organic and tasty while the service is great.
