Anime has become part of the usual daily routine of millennials and Gen-Z growing up. This might be the reason why a lot of people are excited when the Japanese television network TV Asahi and the local animation and game development studio Synergy88 announced an anime project, Barangay 143.
Barangay 143 is a sports-oriented anime series featuring basketball, a widely known sport in the country. It is the first-ever Philippine-made anime started two years ago. It proposed the primary scene may air on the 13th of October on GMA network.
Barangay 143 features the story of Bren Park, an emerging Korean basketball star searching for his biological father, leading him to the Philippines. He then met an unlikely family and a group of misfits in his stay in Tondo. Bren joins a high school basketball team to help them redeem honor in their hometown through playing the sport.
Celebrities are voicing the characters in the animated series. Migo Adecer will voice Bren; Julie Anne San Jose voices the all-around team manager Vicky; Ruru Madrid dubs the rival Wax; the Heneral Luna actor John Arcilla will voice Coach B. Edu Manzano is the commissioner, and Cherie Gil voices Sophia.

Fans can enjoy Barangay 143 not just as a TV Series but digitally, in print and as consumer products. The Barangay 143 Street League mobile game is already available on the Google Play Store for Android and the iOS App Store. The narrative story within the mobile game leads to the suspense and drama that drives the story for the upcoming TV Series.
Barangay 143 is associated with similar famous Japanese anime TV series like Slamdunk and Kuroko no Basket. Hopefully, the new anime will feature the best of our own.
